PV Systems & Energy Storage Integration (PV–BESS Specialist)
This program focuses on the design, integration, and operation of hybrid PV systems with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), commonly used in off-grid, mini-grid, and unreliable grid environments. Training reflects real industry applications and includes: - PV + BESS system architecture (on-grid, off-grid, hybrid) - Battery technologies (primarily lithium-ion) and selection criteria; - Battery sizing based on load profiles and autonomy requirements Integration of inverters, charge controllers, and energy management systems - System protection, grounding, and safety (thermal runaway awareness, protection devices) - Commissioning and performance validation of hybrid systems - Fault detection and troubleshooting in PV + storage systems - Practical work includes configuration and commissioning of hybrid systems, reflecting real deployment scenarios in Africa. Graduates are prepared for roles in mini-grid projects, C&I solar systems, and advanced EPC operations.
PV Installation & Operations (PVIO)
This program prepares participants to perform entry-level photovoltaic (PV) installation and basic operations & maintenance (O&M) tasks in accordance with standard industry practices. Training covers: Identification and handling of PV system components (modules, inverters, mounting structures, cabling) Basic DC electrical wiring and connections Mechanical installation of rooftop and small ground-mounted systems System startup procedures and basic functional checks Routine inspection and preventive maintenance tasks Practical sessions follow typical EPC installation workflows, including site preparation, module mounting, cable routing, and inverter connection under supervision. Graduates are capable of working on-site as PV installation technicians or assistants, supporting commissioning and maintenance teams.
International Certificate in Utility-Scale Solar & Industrial Applications (Global Immersion – Shenzhen)
This immersion program provides exposure to utility-scale PV systems and industrial solar manufacturing processes, aligned with global solar supply chain practices. - Participants engage in: Overview of utility-scale PV plant design and architecture Understanding of large-scale system components (central inverters, transformers, SCADA systems). - Introduction to grid integration concepts and performance monitoring. - Exposure to manufacturing processes of PV modules and energy storage systems. - Quality control standards and testing procedures used in industrial production. The program includes technical sessions and industrial visits in Shenzhen, providing insight into large-scale production and global deployment standards. This track strengthens participants’ understanding of industrial-scale operations, not just installation.
Solar PV Engineering & EPC Execution (PV–EPC)
This program develops competencies required to execute photovoltaic projects within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environment. Training is aligned with real EPC tasks, including: Site assessment (irradiation conditions, shading, structural considerations), System sizing based on load profiles and energy demand, Interpretation of single-line diagrams (SLD) and layout drawings Preparation of basic Bills of Quantities (BoQ), Installation planning and sequencing System commissioning, testing, and documentation. Participants perform team-based installation projects, simulating real EPC conditions, including installation supervision, quality checks, and troubleshooting. Graduates are able to work as independent PV technicians or junior EPC team leads on residential and commercial systems.
